Post Pentacle
Hi All,

Just wondered if you want to try Pentacle; each player plays a mono-colour deck and sits between his 2 allies.

We don't have to use official rules, but I'd say that
colour-sweepers/protection vs enemies would be out.

Comments?

Can I be green?

S ;)

I can do white or red, depending on what other people have or don't have.

I was thinking casual, but how about 60-card highlander, cards from any set, artifacts ok, no colour-targeters (Celestial Purge) , no protection (Paladin-en-Vec) , no land busters (Flashfires) , 2 points if both your enemies die, 1 point if both your allies survive, no spell-range limit ?
Sounds cool ?
Can I be green  ?

60 card highlander? I dunno, that means I have to go out of my way and build a deck...

Let's try to make something new - dibs on black!!

As I understand there are only three rules (other than anti-hosers): target anyone, only attack your two enemy colors and you win when both your opponents are dead...but how do we decide the winner if three people die, is it a tie? I remember the last time I played Pentacle, I (let's say Black) killed one of my opponents (green) and crippled another (white), but my ally (red) had already killed his other opponent (blue) and would have shared the win with me. Being hopelessly immature, I held off on killing white until I could kill red with spells and win singlehandedly. Is there a more grown-up system of tie-breakers?

Well, I thought just use a points system, so in your case, the game would have ended when only B and R were left standing (and 2 pts each). In games I've played, we didn't attack allies!!
Also, you can block attackers which are attacking an ally from a common enemy, eg R can block W attackers coming at B.

So far:
Stephen G
Daryl B
Sean W
Gilrad R (if he makes a deck)
No-one U

See you tomorrow at 5:30.

Just finished the pentacle deck!!

I basically took 48 cards from my EDH deck and added a dozen new cards.

I can't wait to use Urza's Hot Tub!!!

Oh just thought I'd mention how much fun this is.

I was like hey no sweepers! since 3/5 of the table is on my side so why would I want to Wrath. That's right guys Zero Wrath effects from me!

Whereas I am playing a bunch of cards I've never played before...hope I'm not bringing a knife again (and that Brian is brewing up something ingenious).

A friend of mine from school is putting something together for blue, but if worse comes to worst I'll try to bring along an EDH deck in each color (and no Erek, you CAN'T play artifacts and make it 'hexacle' :) )
