Post Dark Heresy RPG WH40k - NOW READY AND REVISED OCT 06
Humanity. Quivering flesh that is filthy from impurity, rotten in its core from its curiosity that is left wanting; it is always wanting and that thirst is what drives itself to extinction. It is a parasite that feeds on itself and everything around it never evolving, only scourging everything in its wake. Humanity is a cyst, blind with cataracts feasting itself to gluttony on the backs of its own kind. It is and therefore we are.

You are asked to sate this killing thirst that humanity has for the unknown to save it from itself. You are to cut its appendages that reach to far and too deep. Your weapons will be that of the Emperor, and His Will for He and His, is Divine and Pure. He and His will tear and rip humanity asunder to shape it for its ever miserable existance and you shall be His instrument. You are to have zeal and conviction; without which, you are like the rest of them, a pointless number to be culled. Your reward is knowing that you have provided service for Our Father and nothing else, for egosim and greed will have no part in this pact, in which you enlist.

Under the tutelage and employ of the Honoured Inquisitor Loqui Cal, you would be considered henceforth as an Acolyte. Your skills are wanted to assist in the endeavours stated above. Should you accept then your rendez-vous upon the cutter Oblivion will start your new journey. May His Light guide you.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am interested in gathering a few members to try a game or two in the DH universe. I will warn you though that my image of the universe is quite depressing and sinister. Human life has no value and you would be pushed in morality and fortitude should you try this with me.

The ideas I have are original to my understanding so I won't be using the supplements asides some little things. The sector that I have chosen to have this game on is not in the Calixis system and it will evolve as we play; it is a frontier system as well.

My play-style is less rules orientated and more story driven. I reward those that play in character as opposed to pushing numbers. You would undoubtedly know the rules better than I but know that I will be fair and just streaming imagery as fast as possible to give you a visceral experience. I will also be harsh to the foolhardy, for you are just another bag of flesh that craves and desires.

Should you be interested please provide me with an idea of the type of character you would be interested in being. Dig deep for this because I will ask you to enrich the game and your play.

Although there is little "hope" in my universe, I do hope that it proves successful and that we can have a few memorable games at least.

Brett

PS. Please excuse my poor grammar.

Brett! That is a great intro text you've got there! Dark, gritty and filthy... just the way I like it. Count me in!

I'll have to mull it over a bit more but I have been thinking about maybe playing an arbitrator of the variety, basically believing that the end justifies the means. It depends on what kind of inquisitor Cal is of course, puritan or radical etc.

Well, that's my initial thoughts... it'll be interesting to see this develop.

Loqui is of a radical bent. His writt is designed to scare-off the timid. You will find that he is a new breed from what you have read; however, you will also find that he will employ various individuals from different philosophies. Being an arbiter will of course be of use to him but keep in mind, not many will establish themselves highly within his "Vision" due to their rather, narrow-sightedness. Loqui would ask that you keep in mind that there is a bigger picture than what is before you.

"Judge, Jury, and Executioner. An Arbiter is a powerful force. Would you be so powerful if you had no badge to back up your words? No wall to support you? Would you retain your abilities if you were stripped of your identity? Remember, you will not carry the word of Inquisition on your lips, not at all. You will be on your own."

An experienced character adds more to the game. I am assuming that an Inquisition member would want someone that isn't green in their field; however, they wouldn't want someone that is too ingrained with their own ideals that they wouldn't follow what the Inquisitor reqests. Perhaps, 3rd tier in their profession, with about 5000xp. I am still thinking on this.

In regards to what you may want to be, I am up for just about anything BUT I have difficulties seeing what a techno-mancer can bring to the table. They aren't really group oriented.

Indeed, Tech-Priests can be tricky to fit into a campaign without them feeling out of place and kind of... purposeless. It's cool when you actually can fit them in though. :)

As I said I have a few different ideas for characters so I'll play around a bit and see what I come up with. With 5,000 xp they'll end up in their third tier though. I think that's just fine though as it leads itself to some more heroics (or attempts at) and you can throw in really dangerous enemies and still expect the characters to have a chance.

Oh man, awesome writeup. That is a vision of the 40k universe I'd like to be involved in. Count me in if this thing goes ahead.
I am a bit green when it comes to the system, so a straightforward class might be best for me. Assassin mebbe? Or Guardsman? Perhaps I should go with random chargen!

Hi there Luke! Would be fun to have you onboard.

From time to time I really enjoy random character generation, especially if it's a game I'm unfamiliar with. Do you have the rules?

Today I've actually been thinking about maybe trying out a more challenging role, like a psyker. :geek:

Welcome aboard Luke. I am sure it will go through, it is just a matter of time. As people get a feel for what they want to be and I can flesh out ideas in the bigger scheme, we will wait in anticipation. When watching your play-style earlier I noted that you tend to protect people and stay with the pack as opposed to doing random things. A guardsman would be a perfect fit. As for the rules, worry not! Storyline and character interaction are what I feed on. Between Martin and myself, we can be your rulebook, which is just another way of saying, your unlimited potential will potentially be harnessed, potentially.

Martin, a psyker certainly fits in well with any game setting. Being a bit stronger now, I feel that you would be able to contribute much more. It is however, a hard life. People will not trust you, will always stare at you, will hate you for who you are ... it is like being in Japan  Remember too, there is always a place in the void for that shiny light of yours. It whispers with its alluring song, 'come play with us'.

Inquisitor Loquis will be expanding his own sphere of influence today as he takes on the Adeptus Astartes and 2 more planets. Right now, he is 'of note', but my intention is to give him notoriety, possibly even infamy.

The meeting with Loquis (Loki) will be your first. The likelihood of actually meeting him face-to-face the first time though is remote although ... you never know. Gleaning any information about this character laboriously would invariably come up with this:

Inquisitor Loquis Cal Democrasus, age unknown, personae prior to internship unknown, agenda unknown, whereabouts unknown, region of influence: Outer Region Segmentum Obscurus possibly near Cypra Mundi, possibly of radical disposition, had assumed this position recently under regulation Code 210 (bequethed position due to disappearance of superior) of the Inquistion Mandate, from Inquisitor Uriel Bent.

This short campaign will include the following characters. Keep in mind that the pc's will have experience and by no means are easy push-overs. They can easily take on the toughest hombres in the galaxy. The question lay in whether it would behoove you to do such because in this game, one bullet can kill you dead.

Cleric - He is a tough one. He speaks very little but what he says tends to be with great forethought; actions speak louder than words. He is a leader-type in personality and can be considered as a leader of the party if you so deem it. Although his knowledge of the Imperial Ecclesiarchy is deep, he will not preach it like others which gives him a radical bent on the stereo-type of the genre. There is a hidden reason to this which is indeed, deep-seeded and shrouded in mystery; only the Inquisitor will know of this. His character skills are mainly in weapons (flamer, bolt pistol and blade) and scholastic fundaments.

Veteran Guardsman - This young man can chew metal and spit it out in bullets. He is tough and very talented in all areas. His family was in the military and brought him up with all of the best. He would have been your nightmare in highschool being the really handsome, unbelievably smart, incredibly athletic, school prodigy that we all secretly hoped to be but weren't. There is a catch though, he holds secrets and there is a reason why he hasn't joined the ranks of the military and has decided to give up his family's tradition. He speaks very little and likes to keep it that way. This pc is well adjusted with multiple skillsets, especially in weapons and warfare. He doesn't specialise in one weapon or skill either. He likes to keep himself open to all possibilities.

Scholar - The brainiac. This man is an incredibly smart, quick-witted, lecherous philanthropist. He graduated the top of all of his classes and he didn't show up to school. The Administratum has repeatedly requested him to join their "think-tank" unit but each time he accepted, on a whim, they had booted him; awaiting the next section head to see if they can sedate him. His sharp tongue and unruly behaviour has caused havoc with everyone he has been in contact with. Keep in mind, he is harmless, all talk, and he is the gentlest of souls, but he does keep himself busy. He is rather scrawny in build and not much to look at but he can charm everyone and anyone if he desires it. The main thing about this pc is that he grows bored easily. It tickles his fancy to learn new things,if there is anything he doesn't already know; keep in mind he is lazy. Life is grand and should be lived to its fullest potential ... "Can't we have it all already and save ourselves the hassle of going through the motions?". His main skillsets are all knowledge based (including street skills) and some rudamentary weapon skills if any. He is an asset too in regards to information of the Empire. Keep in mind, I will be passing info to this character from time to time and he MAY choose to tell the party or keep it secret. He is mischievous.
